The Mobile Internet, or WAP Sites or Mobile Portals or whatever you want to call them are here to stay.  They are great ways for your customer to find out specific bits of information about your and your products.

WAP Sites are best when used to pass on specific information about an upcoming product release (whether it be a film or car or software) or upcoming promotion or as an additional information source for people on the move, when they do not have direct access to the internet.
